Greg Willis is the Silicon Valley computer whiz, turned chef, turned software developer. His new cloud-based Flavor Studio to recipe developers what Pandora is to music lovers. If the person who figured out that peanuts and chocolate were great flavor combinations, the world would have enjoyed M&Ms much sooner. Peanut butter and jelly or shrimp and cocktail sauce are great examples of seemingly divergent flavors are better together. Greg’s new software enables recipe developers to explore flavor combinations, share taste tests within their network and warehouse thousands of recipes in the cloud. I love the combination of computer programmer and chef that is at the heart of Flavor Studio.
Gerry White of Plate magazine alerted me of his publication’s new iPhone app that enables chefs to easily access the shared recipes of great chefs around the globe. If Greg’s Flavor Studio is the Pandora of recipe development, then Gerry’s mobile app is the Google of professional recipes.
