Creative Energy Wins 2014 CenturyLink Faith in the Future Award

(Johnson City, Tenn.) – Creative Energy, the area’s largest locally owned, full-service public relations, advertising, marketing and social media agency, was chosen as a winner of the Faith in the Future Award in the Professional Category. Recipients were evaluated by judges based on their commitment to the future of their business, their employees, their community and the region.

Businesses and individuals from Carter, Greene, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington (TN and VA) counties were invited to participate. An evaluation team from outside the region reviewed all nominations based on the criteria, choosing a single winner among several business categories.

This process allows a business or individual to review their strengths and their impact in the community and region.

In Creative Energy’s nomination, it was noted that it was founder and president Tony Treadway’s vision for the future that led to the creation of Creative Energy. In 1992, when a local company’s marketing department closed, Treadway asked his employer to let him create an agency and for the company to be his first client. His new staff consisted of those who would have otherwise lost their jobs.

“The agency’s first home was in the back of a former Western Sizzlin steakhouse,” Treadway recalls. “In addition to the number of local talents that we employ, we’ve been the driving force in renovations to two abandoned downtown Johnson City buildings for the firm’s offices that today have evolved into thriving office facilities. In 2007, we renovated an abandoned television studio into a modern and inviting corporate office that houses more than 30 talented people.”

“Thanks to the trust of our global clients and the hard work of our employees, Creative Energy has grown into a respected advertising and marketing firm that is known for its effectiveness,” Treadway says.

Creative Energy’s commitment to the future and the region includes support for many local nonprofit organizations and community initiatives. Its employees donate countless hours of volunteer work to area charities and civic organizations on their own time.

“The award is recognition of the power of locally owned and operated businesses to our region,” says agency Vice President Teresa Treadway. “We chose Johnson City because it is a great place to start and grow a business and because of the natural beauty that only East Tennessee can offer.”

The Faith in the Future award winners were recognized at a luncheon event coordinated by CenturyLink and the Chamber of Commerce serving Johnson City-Jonesborough-Washington County on Thursday afternoon at the Millennium Centre. This is the fifth year for the awards and the first time Creative Energy has applied.
