Jim Julien, known affectionately as “Batman” due to his numerous bat tattoos (battoos), is Creative Energy’s Asheville office art director, serving such clients as Siemens, Vertellus and AkzoNobel.
Prior to joining Creative Energy, Jim was a graphic designer and production manager at Maginnis and Associates, Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Sculpture from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh.
Jim loves books and magazines, and is one of the few art directors who have been to Antarctica and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which he describes as “two incredible life experiences.” He also enjoys running for miles and miles – “at least until the knees give out” – as well as puppetry, comics, music, art, theatre and playwriting.
Jim serves as co-director of the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival with his wife, Jocelyn Reese; and on the boards of directors for Asheville Vaudeville and the Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre.
